FALL IS UPON US

FEELS LIKE FALL!!!!
The week of change is upon us. The front has moved through and we are getting our forecasted highs in the 60's and lows near 40. We need rain, and in the worst way, but it looks like most of it will stay to our north this week. Temperatures will begin a warming trend as we head into next week. Expect highs back in the mid to upper 70's again.

For now, that's about as much action as we are going to see as we continue to live under the metaphoric and literal bubble of high pressure that's keeping the storms away. We are watching a few things that are unusual that are leading us to believe this is going to be a Cold and Nasty Winter. More on that to come. Stay tuned...

IKE HITS

MORE OF THE SAME...

For another week at least. It looks to be another warm dry week in cincy, with only the slightest threat of rain as we head towards the weekend. There are some signs, however, that we may see the bottom drop out come the middle of next week with highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's. That's still a ways off and we'll keep you updated. For now, you still have plenty of time to go out and tar down the shingles and replace the siding since you all are back on the grid.

IKE SAYS "SORRY"

We told you to expect tropical storm force winds, but Ike even fooled us. The strongest winds were always on the East side of the hurricane and as it tracked through Indianapolis, the rain stayed with it and we got the worst winds. In fact, we had hurricane gusts with an official high wind of 74 MPH at the airport, though other places recorded winds higher than that.

The storm got us all...many lost power, roofs, shingles, trees, siding, and Arbors. A hurricane in Cincinnati...Unbelievable.

Good Summary from the NWS:

The remnants of Hurricane Ike merged with a frontal boundary and swept through the Ohio Valley on Sunday, September 14. An intense pressure gradient to the south of this system resulted in widespread winds gusts of 50 to 75 mph across much of Indiana, Ohio and northern Kentucky. These winds persisted for several hours which caused very widespread damage with downed trees and power lines, damage to structures, and numerous structure fires. The wind storm left over 1 million people without power across Wilmington's forecast area and resulted in 4 fatalities.
